Bitter taste receptors in the gut can trigger systemic antitoxin responses such as appetite suppression and inflammation reduction—responses that Aardvark Therapeutics is harnessing to address obesity, diabetes, and (eventually) inflammatory diseases. Phase II trials are underway in obesity and Prader-Willi syndrome.
